The photoresistor is a passive circuit element which resistance varies depending on the intensity of the light coming on it.

In general, photoresistance are of low power and have resistors ranging from a few kΩ to light to resistors of the order of M Ω in the dark.

This module has two LEDs, one for power and the other for output from the comparator. In this configuration, the circuit detects if the light exceeds a certain threshold.
